Cooperative Day 2015

 On the 20th May 2015, St. Teresa’s Secondary School held a special assembly in Teresian Hall to celebrate the Cooperative Day.  At 7.45 a.m., students and teachers were gathered in the hall before the guest-of-honour arrived. 

The event kicked off with the singing of the national and state anthems accompanied by the school’s symphonic brass band. It then continued with the school’s co-op members singing the Cooperative Song.  Then, doa and prayer were recited.

The co-op day celebration went on with the reading of a message from the ANGKASA President by Nur Athirah binti Zamel.  The message from the  Minister of Domestic Trades, Cooperatives and Consumerism was read by Richelle Ng Yian Phing and the last one was a message from the Minister of Education, Malaysia, read by Leonora Edwin.





SMK St. Teresa’s principal, Puan Mary John presented the speech of welcome followed an opening speech by the guest-of-honour, the President of PTA Encik Justin Ho Seng Nam.  Six hits on the gong were sounded, symbolising the number of stars awarded to the school co-op for its excellent services provided.

The school band then performed two songs entitled “The Lion King” and “Game of Thrones”. Next, a drama entitled “A load of rubbish” was put on by the school drama team. They received a standing ovation from teachers and visitors. It drove home a strong message to everyone, which was to practise 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). After that, the school’s Choir Club performed two songs entitled “Sing” and “IM4U” (I am for you). Their performance was so mesmerising that everyone sang along and cheered.

At 9.00 a.m., the guest-of-honour was invited to grace the tree-planting ceremony.   He was then led to visit the co-op bazaar made up of stalls set up by students before being served refreshment in the Teresian Gallery.

The day ended with students cleaning up the school compound where stalls had been set up.
